Cult Collective has been servicing U.S. brands from Canada for more than six years and now the Calgary-based agency has established its first outpost in the U.S.

The collective has set
up shop in Los Angeles where its biggest U.S. client—UCLA Health—is based.

The agency does a lot of project work and relies on a talented pool of seasoned freelancers so that it

E.W. Scripps Buys ION Media For $2.65B, Berkshire Hathaway Invests

The E.W. Scripps Co., owner of TV stations
and local TV digital-based TV networks, is buying ION Media, a national broadcast network, for $2.65 billion.

Along with Scripps’ Katz local digital TV networks, and Newsy, a
digital news TV platform, it is buying the West Palm Beach, Florida-based TV network “to create a full-scale national television networks business.”

It intends to
combine ION with Katz and Newsy to offer “advertisers a larger platform on which to reach their audiences.” Scripps says ION has the fifth-largest viewership average in prime time among
broadcast networks.

Scripps expects ION Media’s national advertising revenue to be down by mid-teens percentages for 2020.

Scripps operates 60
television stations in 42 markets.

GroupM agencies dominated the first-half global
media-pitch competition, according to a new ranking issued by agency tracker COMvergence today.

According to the firm’s report (“New Business Barometer for H1 2020”)
Mindshare is the top global media agency in new business results, with net total billings of $1.1 billion, including $741 million worth of accounts that were successfully defended in formal reviews
during the period. 

According to the report, Mindshare’s performance was particularly strong in China (where it won the PepsiCo business in the first quarter) and North America,
